Football

Football, commonly known as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s net, utilizing primarily foot maneuvers to control and advance the ball. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, which is typically grass or artificial turf, and has a goal at each end.

Football is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Matches are divided into two halves, and the team with the most goals at the end of the match wins. If the score is tied, depending on the competition rules, it may result in a draw or proceed to extra time or penalties.

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, characterized by its simplicity and accessibility, played in various forms and levels, from informal pick-up games to professional leagues and international competitions, such as the FIFA World Cup.
