Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily using any part of the body except the arms and hands; only the goalkeeper is allowed to use their hands within the penalty area. The game takes place on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Matches are typically divided into two halves of 45 minutes each.

Soccer is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at the international level, which organizes major competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. The sport has a rich history and is played professionally and recreationally around the world, making it one of the most popular and widely followed sports globally. Various leagues and tournaments exist at national and club levels, captivating millions of fans. The simplicity of its rules and low equipment requirements contribute to its accessibility and widespread popularity.
