NBA

The NBA, or National Basketball Association, is a professional basketball league in North America, consisting of 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada). It is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and is considered the premier men’s professional basketball league in the world. The league was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and later merged with the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949 to become the NBA.

The NBA regular season typically runs from October to April, followed by a playoff tournament that culminates in the NBA Finals in June. The league is known for its high level of athleticism and skill, and it features some of the best basketball players globally. The NBA also has a significant influence on pop culture, with notable athletes becoming global icons. The league’s governance includes a commissioner and is governed by a collective bargaining agreement between the teams and the players’ union.
