Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. Players primarily use their feet to control and advance the ball, although other parts of the body, except for the arms and hands (which are reserved for the goalkeepers), can be used.

The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Soccer is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which are established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). The sport is characterized by its emphasis on skill, teamwork, and strategy, and it is played professionally in leagues and tournaments around the world, including the FIFA World Cup, which is the sport’s premier international competition.

Soccer is one of the most popular sports globally, with millions of players and spectators. Its simplicity and accessibility contribute to its widespread appeal, making it a sport that can be played in diverse environments, from organized leagues to informal street games.
